REVIEW - NOKIA C7

If you think the Nokia N8 could be further improved upon, you’re right. Yaay, for observational skills! The Nokia C7 is the new smartphone that is the sequel to the Nokia N8. Is it any better than the last one or will it suffer from the dreaded sequel-itis? Read on and find out.
The Nokia C7 continues to run on the Symbian^3 operating system, which allows you to customise your widgets onto the three home screens of the device. The 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive screen is receptive to the touch. But the Symbian^3 isn’t as intuitive as the other operating systems out there.
The phone’s camera is fitted with a full-focus 8-megapixel camera and HD recording function, which means that the images and movies are rich with colours and details but when it comes to filming, moving the camera about too fast results in the motion jerkiness. Another inconvenience comes in the form of having to remove the battery to get to the micro SD card slot.
The phone looks pretty and despite the rounded corners and chrome finish, the Nokia C7 is tougher than it looks. For one thing, it has a scratch resistant display window and being slimmer than its predecessor means there is also a slight improvement in the size department.
Alas, it’s a shame the phone’s beauty is easily marred by fingerprint smudges, which transfer easily onto its body. It would be nice to get some oleophobic coating on the screen for a cleaner swiping experience.
