Lewis, now 47, revealed Thursday on Instagram that she’s been coping with the condition in private for nearly 2 yrs. She apologized to her relatives and buddies members who may be hurt by the news headlines, but said she’d been deliberately avoiding stress.

That’s when she explained that the explanation for her revelation was to warn others.

“For an extremely long time, I’ve refused mammograms, and that has been a blunder,” Lewis said. “I watched my mom get mammograms for 30 years almost, and by the end of this, she had breast cancer, and I said, ‘Huh. Radiation exposure for a long time… breast cancer. Yeah, I’m likely to pass. Thanks anyway.’”

She now regrets that decision.

“EASILY had done the mammograms from enough time these were recommended, when I turned 40, they might have caught the tumor in my own breast years before I caught it through my very own breast exam – self exam – and thermography,” said Lewis, who hosted her very own talk show in 2001. “Plus they could have caught it at a location where it had been more manageable. Where in fact the treatment of it could have been just a little easier. It’s never easy, but I take advantage of that word compared to what I’m going right through now. Instead, what I’m coping with is stage 3 breast cancer that’s in my own lymphs. I want one to get your mammograms.”

Lewis noted that she had actually received more radiation because of skipping mammograms. “I’d experienced probably 3 or 4 mammograms by enough time they caught it,” she said. “Instead, I had two PET scans up to now!”

Lewis cried a couple of that time period while delivering her message.

“I’ve a nine-year-old I have to be here for,” Lewis said at one point. “I’ve no intention on leaving him. I don’t desire to leave some of my kids. I don’t desire to leave my friends or my children. Hell, I don’t desire to leave myself. I love being here. So, listen, this is simply not how this is likely to go, but I’m just likely to keep it real with you prefer I usually do.”

Lewis, who believes in natural medicine, said she’ll continue steadily to share her health status with people later on in the hopes of convincing them to accomplish what she didn’t.

“For me personally it was vital that you arrived at you and admit where I went wrong with this particular, because it could help or someone you understand,” Lewis said. “That is a continuing journey for me personally.”
