Up next, find out what it's really like working for a modeling agency. We spoke with one of AVE Management's model bookers, Parveen, who sheds light on what really goes on in this industry teeming with beautiful bodies and faces. We might automatically assume that they're flanked by models all the time or is that merely a fallacy? Read on and find out.
When you tell people you work at a modeling agency, what do they automatically think you do?
The most common misconception people have is they think i party with models all the time.
But in reality, what do you actually do?
It's not as glamorous as most people assume. On a regular day, I would propose our models for a variety of suitable modeling jobs. In addition, I provide and introductory orientation for models that are new to Singapore. What's more, I handle their daily schedules to ensure they're at their respective jobs.
What's a typical workday for you like?
Pretty much just like everybody else's: Send out e-mails, do phone calls, send more e-mails and make a couple more phone calls. If I'm not e-mailing or on the phone, I send out text messages in between.
What's your favourite part about your job? And the least?
My favourite part about my job is working with people that i'm close to or familiar with. I also love securing jobs for our new models and seeing their faces in magazines and ads. I feel thrilled too when I see them grow and get big overseas — makes me feel like a proud mama! However, I also have to deal with certain models who have more diva-ish attitudes. You could say that's my least favourite part about the job.
