Only 23 and Ivan Chia a.k.a. Eclipse has already been lauded as one of Singapore's most promising DJs, playing alongside international acts like Boys Noize, DJ Craze and Boy8-Bit, just to name a few. As one of Zouk's resident DJs, Eclipse, along with DJ Hong, spins regularly at Phuture for the fashionista-friendly CODE events. We find out more about the kick-ass club night and the DJ himself.
Is planning what to wear for a Zouk CODE party easy or hard?
Every CODE event is a theme party and the team brainstorms for ideas, which makes it easier for everyone to dress up in a fun way!
Who are your influences?
DJ AM, A-Trak, Diplo, Trouse Brothers! And young producers like Avicii, AN21, Hardwell, Max Vangeli and the Swedish House Mafia guys.
What are the highs and lows involved with DJing?
When your dance floor is packed, you know it’s going to be a rocking night and people are enjoying themselves. That’s all that matters! A low point is that it gets pretty mundane when you get the same requests every week.
DJ Hong and you work the CODE events together what is it like working with him?
Definitely a fun and learning experience. CODE nights are a success because of the effort of the entire team.
If you weren't a DJ, what would you be doing?
A chef.
Where in the world would you like to play next?
Ultra, Sensation, Japan, there are just too many.
What do you want written on your epithet?
Nothing Without Labour.
The next CODE event will be held Friday, June 10. The dress code is BLACK & WHITE.
