REVIEW - WACOM INTUOS5

Wacom is a big name in the world of graphics tablet and with the release of the Intuos5, that name is about to get a lot more bigger.

Retaining features that made the previous Intuos4 model so great, the Intuos5 is also more sleek and intuitive. Take the slimmer profile and matte-black, soft-style finish, which made resting your hands on more comfortable.

The multi-touch gesture support allows seamless switching between pen to touch and back again. This new intuitive input makes for an efficient workflow and convenience. The hotkeys of the graphics tablet are customisable (thus the lack of control names in this version). With adjustable shortcuts, one can decrease dependency on the computer keyboard while increasing productivity. Oh, and the other sweet part about the tablet is that it's ambidextrous: if you're a left-handed user, just flip the device 180 degrees. If there was any gripe, it would be that the ring was a touch sensitive.

The Inruous5 Grip Pen continues to dazzle with with Tip Sensor tech, which allows for an increased pen pressure and accuracy. Other features include a pressure-sensitive eraser and two customisable side switches.

In the Intuos5 range, you can get a Small, Medium and Large. You'll notice that the Extra Large version of the tablet is missing as it has been discontinued.

Priced from $379 to $799, Wacom Intuos5 is available at all authorised Wacom resellers, including Best Denki @ Great World City, #02-33B/D, Tel: 6319-9890 and Challenger Superstore @ Changi City Point, #01-56, Tel: 6636-2302.
