KONGO IN THE URBAN JUNGLE

For the past few days, people did a double take when they saw the exterior of the yet-to-be-open Hermès store at Scotts Square. But put those canes away, Mr. Government; the fashion house gave French graff artist, Kongo, the go-ahead to add that fresh coat of urban painting.
The idea of high fashion and urban street art mixing isn't new but the collaboration between Hermès and Kongo produced the fresh breathtaking mural outside the Hermès store. Called "Graffiti made by hand", the painting also kicked off Voilah! French Festival Singapore 2011's "Off the Wall" urban art festival.
Kongo will return to Singapore this Friday for the opening of the Hermès store at Scotts Square, where windows designed by the artist will be unveiled. And between 2-6pm, Kongo will also create customised graffiti nametags on site. You'll also get a chance to be captured inside the Kongo-designed “Graff Hermès” carré, a larger-than-life scarf fashioned into a photo booth.
