REVIEW - SAMSUNG SERIES 9

Duralumin might sound like a made-up word but it’s actually the name of a super alloy that’s ultra light, twice as strong as aluminum and used in advanced aircraft design. Now Samsung is using it to craft its Notebook Series 9, making it one of the lightest at 1.3kg. The ball’s in your court MacBook Air.

Samsung really went all out in the design department when they manufactured this baby, creating a slim profile and curvy contour that makes it a joy to hold. And the weight of it… holding it is almost effortless. We almost wanted to toss the laptop just to watch its aerodynamic body cut through the air. Almost.

Performance-wise, it’s no slouch. The Series 9 is equipped with a second-generation Intel Core i5 CPU and a 128GB solid-state drive. The Series 9 also comes with Samsung’s patented SuperBright Plus display, which is twice as bright as conventional display screens. Visuals were crystal-clear.

The price might give you pause ($2,488) but the aesthetic and performance of the machine should buffer those concerns.

The Samsung Series 9 is available at all major IT retailers as well as the Samsung flagship store at Vivocity, #02-28/29, Tel: 6376-9150.
