GET THE LOOK: AUTUMN ANDROGYNY

The season sees the return of androgyny, but this time, it’s about making that statement with one element in the look. Think: Bold brows or matte lips; both minimal but deliberate in their applications. Get the looks with our tips below:

BROW BEAT

If you’ve always been endowed with dense, lush eyebrows – this is your season. The trick is to manicure your brows to fit your face, then finish with a clear brow gel or brow pencil. You’ll want something that doesn’t feel tacky or stiff.

If overplucked or sparse is your situation, fret not. Restore brow health with a brow serum which can help heal damaged follicles and enhance hair growth, and while you wait, try a dramatic look a la Proenza Schouler.

Makeup artist Diane Kendal achieved the above look by applying eyeshadow to the brows using a firmish angled brush. She then drew the lines above the brow with a dark lip pencil.

GIVING LIP

The look you’re going for is nude and matte, like it’s barely there. This can be achieved a few ways:

1. Brush a bit of eye shadow in taupe along lips for a slightly stained effect.

2. Pat on, with your finger, a slightly pinkish lipstick like Montego Bay by NARS.

3. Rub on concealer on the outer bits of your lips.
