We’re also thrilled to have spoken with Nicole Parker King, the founder and Creator-in-Chief of Jet Set Candy. She shared with us more about her brand and the travel-themed jewelry that it offers. Wanderlusters, this one’s for you!
Hi Nicole, tell us more about Jet Set Candy and why you focused on travel-themed jewelry.
The idea for Jet Set Candy came about when I was on a trip to Sri Lanka a few years back. I wanted to get a souvenir, but I couldn’t find anything that I could bring home. Sure, there are magnets and little figurines, but these don’t exactly fit into an overarching collection. So I thought, why not reinvent souvenirs?
I wanted something that felt special and memorable — each piece to have its own flavour of different destinations that we travel to, while still be part of a jewelry collection that we already have. Jet Set Candy is thus about keeping a little memento from your travels in a form of an arm candy.
Where do you draw inspiration from when creating jewelry based on the countries you’ve travelled to?
Inspiration comes from everywhere. Most of the time ideas just pop into my head, so I always have to carry my sketchbook around to take note of these ideas. They can come from landmarks, people and food. What’s more important is that our pieces always have cute twists and a smile factor to them.

From what you’ve seen on, do you think that the Singaporean fashion scene and style ties in nicely with the brand’s jewelry?
It’s a natural fit. The level of fashion and style in Singapore is very high, and in the few days that I’m here, I was impressed by many outfits Singaporeans were sporting. There’s an element of playfulness to it, and that’s what Jet Set Candy is about — fun and quirk.
What made Mimento the perfect partner in Singapore to carry Jet Set Candy?
I’m excited to be having my brand alongside other labels, which I admire very much, such as Zadig and Voltaire and Les Néréides. It’s great to finally have a place here where people can come to and get their Jet Set Candy jewelry!
